Major global aluminum producers are finally realizing the implication of cutting down their carbon footprint and producing low carbon aluminum. Sustainability is now an integral part of industry growth plans and policy strategies. Further, big-ticket consumers like Apple and BMW are investing in using sustainable aluminum for their product lines.

This calls for a review of low carbon aluminum as a product and its sustainability implications and a look into the total sustainability index for the global aluminum industry.
